Keuka China Program

In 2002, Keuka College successfully partnered with several major Chinese universities in launching the Sino-American Academic Collaboration Program. This international relationship received the official approval of the Office of Academic Degrees Committee for the State Council in the People’s Republic of China.
Keuka College’s partner universities include Yunnan University of Finance & Economics, Tianjin University of Science & Technology, Jimei University of the Fujian Province, and Wenzhou University in the Zhejiang Province.
Students are required to pass a qualifying examination before entering the Chinese Collaboration Program with Keuka College, U.S.A. Currently, there are more than 4,000 students enrolled with successful graduates from each partner university. Keuka China Programs (KCP) offers a Bachelor of Science degree completion program in management science. Graduates of the program will receive a bachelor’s degree conferred by Keuka College and the Chinese partner university. Their degree is recognized by both the People’s Republic of China and the United States.
Of all the U.S. colleges offering degree programs in China, Keuka College boasts the largest enrollment.
Although China is a communist country, it is embracing new ideas such as free enterprise and individual opportunity. And Keuka College, the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning, did its part by introducing one of its staples, Field Period (required internship program), to its Chinese students.
The Chinese are enamored with the Field Period concept, of taking what they have learned in the college classroom and applying it to real-life situations. As in the U.S., Field Period is a way for students to become more competitive in the job market. Chinese businesses are receptive to Field Period and American companies in China also find it appealing.
And with thousands of American companies operating in China, Keuka College seems primed to have a positive impact on two of the most powerful economic forces in the world.
Students pursuing Keuka degrees in Keuka Park have reaped many benefits from the College’s presence in China.
Thirteen students conducted their January 2006 Field Periods in the country. Six were stationed at the Beijing Children’s Home, an orphanage that also provides medical treatment to children from all over northern China, and seven helped establish a Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics in Kunming.
